GENEVA:<\/strong> Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araqchi met his Oman counterpart Badr Albusaidi in Geneva to discuss key provisions of a potential agreement with the United States regarding Tehran\u2019s nuclear programme and the possible lifting of US sanctions, media reports said on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to reports, Araqchi briefed the Omani minister on proposals related to the Iranian nuclear dossier ahead of the third round of Oman-mediated negotiations between Washington and Tehran scheduled to take place later this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Araqchi is leading the Iranian delegation in the talks aimed at resolving longstanding disputes over Iran\u2019s nuclear activities. The negotiations follow earlier rounds held in Geneva, where both sides reported progress on certain issues that could form the basis of a future draft agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diplomatic engagement comes amid heightened tensions after the White House warned earlier this year that it could consider the use of force if Iran failed to engage constructively in negotiations for what Washington described as a \u201cfair deal\u201d ensuring Tehran does not acquire nuclear weapons. Iranian authorities have consistently denied seeking to develop an atomic bomb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

US Vice President JD Vance previously said discussions had been positive on several aspects but noted that Iran had not yet accepted some of Washington\u2019s core demands. The United States and Israel have also called for Iran to curb its ballistic missile programme and regional activities alongside nuclear restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
