PETERBOROUGH (UK):<\/strong> The Chinese community in Britain is preparing to celebrate the Lunar New Year on February 17, 2026, welcoming the Year of the Fire Horse with optimism and cultural festivities, including traditional dragon parades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local organisers of the annual parade in Peterborough said the themes of freedom and success are closely linked with the celebrations, expressing hope that the coming year would mark a positive chapter after the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founder of the local Chinese community, Faustina Yang, said the horse symbolises a free spirit and determination. \u201cThe horse has a free spirit and it runs towards freedom and success,\u201d she said, adding that she hoped the new year would bring a positive impact for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yang also acknowledged budget constraints affecting this year\u2019s events but encouraged people to participate in the festivities, attend the dragon parade and exchange greetings to mark the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She emphasised the importance of inclusion, saying the Chinese community was committed to strengthening ties within wider society. \u201cWe are part of this society \u2014 we are here and we are here to stay,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Fire Horse occurs once every 60 years and is associated with intense, energetic and transformative qualities, combining the Horse\u2019s independent nature with the passion linked to the Fire element.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
