ISLAMABAD:<\/strong> Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), held talks with Marco Rubio on regional and global security as well as counterterrorism cooperation on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, including evolving security dynamics and anti-terrorism measures, the ISPR said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The army chief visited Germany from February 12 to 14 to participate in engagements held alongside the annual security forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his visit, Field Marshal Munir also interacted with German authorities and military leaders from Brazil and Lebanon, focusing on contemporary security challenges, bilateral defence cooperation and the promotion of global peace through bilateral and multilateral dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of his engagements with German authorities, the COAS called on Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Minister of the Interior, G\u00fcnter Sautter, Foreign and Security Policy Adviser to the German Chancellor, and Carsten Breuer, Chief of Defence, Federal Armed Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe meetings focused on contemporary security issues, bilateral defence cooperation and the need for promoting global peace and security through bilateral and multilateral dialogue,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides, the COAS held a productive engagement with Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces, to discuss bilateral military cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Separately, Rodolph Haykal, Commander of the Armed Forces of Lebanon, also called on the COAS. During the interaction, the global and regional security situation and measures to enhance bilateral defence collaboration were discussed, the ISPR noted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
