KARACHI:<\/strong> The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) on Thursday announced the successful launch of Pakistan\u2019s second indigenous Electro-Optical satellite (EO-2) from the Yangjiang Seashore Launch Centre (YSLC) in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Suparco described the launch as a significant milestone reflecting Pakistan\u2019s advancing capabilities in satellite development and the steady progress of its national space programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the commission, EO-2 was conceived, engineered and integrated in Pakistan at Suparco\u2019s Satellite Research and Development Centre (SRDC). Developed through in-house research and systems engineering, the satellite demonstrates enhanced national expertise in satellite design, payload integration, testing and mission preparedness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suparco stated that EO-2 has been designed to operate in coordination with the previously launched EO-1 satellite. The new satellite is capable of observing the Earth under varying illumination conditions, facilitating improved surface feature analysis and more accurate change detection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The combined operation of EO-1 and EO-2 is expected to enhance imaging continuity and analytical precision for a range of national applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The addition of EO-2 further strengthens Pakistan\u2019s Earth observation fleet by increasing data availability for sustained national use, the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suparco said the mission underscores its commitment to applied research, development of skilled human resources and systematic expansion of indigenous space infrastructure.
